About the Press
UCT Press has a long history of scholarly monograph publishing. We are excited to have become an open access press that will continue our investment in sharing high-quality, original, peer-reviewed research on pressing issues. Open access contributes to social justice by making scholarship more equitable and widely available.
UCT Press charges Book Processing Charges (BPCs) solely to cover the cost of production. These costs do not cover any marketing of the book (including any costs associated with book launches) nor does UCT Press add any mark-up to the BPCs for profit generation.
The UCT Press logo was inspired by Gavin Younge’s sculpture which reflects on UCT’s position in Africa and its academic contributions (cf. the academic gown). When referencing this piece of art work, a suggestion is: Younge, Gavin. 1984. Hoerikwaggo [welded steel]. Cape Town: University of Cape Town. [Commissioned by UCT and located near Sarah Baartman Hall].
We invite you to become part of our lively scholarly community. We look forward to receiving your publishing proposals for consideration by the UCT Press Editorial Board.
